My GHETTO Youth
My GHETTO
Youth
To my ghetto youth,
This is what I have for you:
There are shades of evil everywhere,
Therefore, enjoy the shadows
They surely guide you to where you won’t go
The salamander eats its own tail,
Yet it never wails
Fear not and tread on,
Be cautious to follow the course,
The lord charts
Cigarettes are a blight to the human race,
A man is a monkey with one in his face
Take warning dear friend, Take warning dear brother,
A fire’s on one end, a fool’s on the other
My ghetto youth, so I
say try
Until the day you die
To those who puff their weed,
Make sure you don’t
cough and bleed
Just because you were
born in the ghetto,
Doesn’t mean you can’t
grow
Stop and think, before
you take another roll,
Once again, I say
Try not to live life,
like that in a movie,
Have your names carved
in the stones of history
Someone is always left behind,
When this door of life closes
I urge you to push on,
To inspire the others
You are at the crossroads of your life,
May there not be sudden curves
Deep toss to divert your lines,
Always be able to play the cards, life delves you
Just like the game of tag,
Ghetto youth it’s on you
Show them how you rule,
Anything you see, make sure to flag
Build your body through rigorous
exercise,
Sharpen your mind through constant
study
Pursue a life, strange that people
can’t keep up.
To my Ghetto Youth is a poem meant to encourage and advise the youth about their lifestyle.
