DEATH TOOK HER/ (AKPE EKPE)

DEATH TOOK HER/ (AKPE EKPE)
January 28, a child was born,

August 28, same child gone

Oh! How can we pick you out from the lair?

With the Thorns of death holding you there

Here are we chewed up with sadness,

At the loss of a woman, not our mother

Her smiles and friendship, which did hold us,

Such pain we cannot hold any longer

A reason behind our smile,

Within our hearts, you did turn on the lights

Had we known it would last a while,

You, would we have held tight

I wrote this poem in memory of my dear classmate who died after completing her secondary school. She was very sociable and free with everyone. we shall forever remain in our hearts.
