MAY 9
MAY 9
May 9,
Nothing good, nothing nice
Ghana’s cloud nine,
Became sour like lime
Confusing like a rhyme,
No one could find Jesus Christ,
to turn blood into wine
It all began when fans said that the score line,
Was not the answer from the dice
That the decisions of the referees were all lies.
Their actions called for teargas in the skies
With the peppery smoke itching their eyes,
They began to run for their lives
Confined and denied by stampede,
They began heading towards 6 feet
Some run and cried,
Others couldn’t survive
Alas, no matter how they tried,
The news could not become sublime
They paid dearly for their lives,
What an expensive fine!
That Wednesday was our dark Wednesday,
It became a story of ashes to ashes
My fellow Catholics,
Remember us in prayers on Ash Wednesday
Never again,
Will there be a day
Or a May
Where lives will be displayed,
On cold floors in the mortuary
Never again,
Should there be a day
Or a May
Where sports will be horrible,
Gory and uncontrollable
Never again,
Will there be a day
Or a May
Nay!
Never again
Be it a match,
Between Kotoko, or Hearts
We must have the right conscience,
Whenever we are present at the stands
Our football needs no kululu
Nor anyone trying to behave like taflats3 bulu
Dirtying ourselves with mulu
Let us bring back the love,
The one we once had.
* Kotoko_A football club in Ghana
