She loved her body,
More than anybody
She loved herself,
Self-love for that’s what she said
She has mastered the arts,
More than the artists
She is well-sculpted,
Neither married nor courted

But she commands nudity,
Like it is a thing of beauty
She is never scared,
Not even the rumours in the air
She comes in slim, thin, thick or fat,
Stunning in so many varieties
Her beauty can be far-spotted,
As expected

But she is a human being,
A living thing
Why would she want to compare?
Herself to items on the shelf
Made of bronze, gold or brass,
Does she know she is wholesome like cereal?
And still beautiful when covered,
If so, why the nakedness

There is beauty and then there is nudity,
One is a sin in the other’s blessings
I don’t think this fine girl,
Would want to perish in hell
Because of what she did in the past,
By removing her pants at the beach
I am shocked,
At how our sisters seem corrupted
V
They are in a state of filth,
Seducing us to sin
Lord forgive us when we stare,
Guide and guard us amongst them
Keep us fit within our pants,
Whenever we see those oranges
Do not feel insulted,
Don’t think our love for you is dotted.

Mariska Araba Taylor-Darko, the Author The Iced Water Seller, a 54-paged short story written by Mariska Araba Taylor-Darko,  consists of seven (7) intriguing chapters, which is written in a brief and simple language. Published in 2014, it gets captivating as Araba, a well-to-do woman accidentally or coincidentally bumps into a young hawker. This young hawker would later on turn out to be her lost daughter. Spanning from the first chapter, the story speaks of the encounter of these two women, giving Araba the flashback about her past in the second chapter as well.  The third chapter connects Araba to Sisi Yaa's caretaker, Aunt Caro. Her treatment towards the young girl perturbs Araba. This relays us to Araba's urge to help young girls in situations like hers, in chapter four.  Araba probing further about Sisi Yaa's background, ends up meeting Mansah.
