Boy with head deformity needs support

Social support organisation, Dorcas Madjitey Foundation, has appealed to the general public to come to the aid of 12-year-old Joseph Agbeshie who is in critical condition.

Joseph is suffering from an abnormal enlargement of the head which has led to other health conditions, including improper dental formation and function.

The condition has again affected the boy’s spleen, sense of hearing and sight, implying that doctors would have to “remove his teeth and rearrange them to enable his mouth to close properly.”

Founder of the organisation, Madam Dorcas Madjitey, said Joseph’s mother, Janet Avuni, is a petty trader and single mother with little means to cater for her son as well as the cost of the surgery hence the call on other benevolent individuals and organisations for support.

She made the appeal through The Spectator after making a presentation to the boy at her residence last Saturday at Ashaiman, as part of activities to mark her silver jubilee.

Ms Madjitey who is a survivor of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, said she was determined to support other less privileged persons in society in spite of her physical challenges.

The philantropist was born with the condition and doctors had doubted her chances of survival but she continued to make progress in her professional and educational journey, currently at age 25.

She said physically challenged persons should be supported to realise their potentials and that she was focused on achieving this objective and would continue to share the message of Christ’s salvation with able-bodied persons as well as the underprivileged.
