Dear Yang,
Will you be mine?
If I should stick my hand,
To bring out a ring that shines,
Bright news of our love life
Will you be my man?
Will you be my wedded husband?
Whom will stay by my side,
In good and bad times
Will you marry me?
and tell me stories
I have never heard ring,
In my ear drums as sweet
As popsicles

Dear Yin,
Yes, I shall wear that ring
Which makes you think,
Too much that you fail to eat
If only you promise me one thing,
Fidelity

This means,
No one comes in between,
You and me
Or our islands within its streams
An act of infidelity,
Breeds dishonesty
Then suspicions begins to creep in,
We will crumble within

I shall weep,
Since no one can mend until eternity
If you promise me that,
I will be your Yang,
You shall be my Yin
Our lives shall be like the romantic movies
And we shall live forever happily.

Mariska Araba Taylor-Darko, the Author The Iced Water Seller, a 54-paged short story written by Mariska Araba Taylor-Darko,  consists of seven (7) intriguing chapters, which is written in a brief and simple language. Published in 2014, it gets captivating as Araba, a well-to-do woman accidentally or coincidentally bumps into a young hawker. This young hawker would later on turn out to be her lost daughter. Spanning from the first chapter, the story speaks of the encounter of these two women, giving Araba the flashback about her past in the second chapter as well.  The third chapter connects Araba to Sisi Yaa's caretaker, Aunt Caro. Her treatment towards the young girl perturbs Araba. This relays us to Araba's urge to help young girls in situations like hers, in chapter four.  Araba probing further about Sisi Yaa's background, ends up meeting Mansah.
